Imperial Gallic 'A' (Nijmegen)

£135.00

Based on a complete helmet found outside the fort at the Kops Plateau Nijmegen (Netherlands). An all-iron helmet with thick iron browguard and double tie-ring and stud fastenings. The single eyebrow decoration is a development from the earlier Port bei Nidau Gallic Celt helmet types. The helmet was found with Augustan period pottery sherds, a strigil and a circular shield boss with a flat flange typical of the type used on flat oval shields used by auxiliary soldiers.
